The Veneta Park Board voted to approve an Eagle Scout project to install a concrete chess table and slab at Ralph Johnson Park. Life Scout Wyatt Frome estimated the project would cost approximately $3,500—about $3,000 for a durable chess table and $500 for the concrete slab—and asked whether the city could help if his fundraising left a shortfall. Public Works Director Kyle Schauer said the proposal "fits well with the master plan for Johnson Park" and recommended Frome focus on fundraising first before returning with a specific funding request.
