Planning board unanimously recommends Harvey County Comprehensive Plan for county review

The Harvey County Planning & Zoning Advisory Board voted unanimously on Oct. 8, 2024 to recommend that the Harvey County Comprehensive Plan be forwarded to the Harvey County Commission for approval. The board, chaired by Justin Stucky, took the vote after a public hearing and a brief staff overview.
John Shepard of Marvin Planning Consultants gave a short presentation describing the purpose of the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Director Karen Rothe reviewed relevant chapters and explained Maps 14.1 and 14.2. Rothe told the board that if the plan is approved by the county commission, the Planning Commission would still retain the ability to make changes later.
During the public hearing, resident Terry Scott urged vigilance on water resources and potential "land grabs." After closing public comment, Commissioner Joni Embree-Meinders moved to recommend the plan; Justin Stucky seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Nine board members were recorded present for the meeting.
