Middle school guitar program expands inventory and doubles enrollment with community grant support
Guitar program director Kent Schwaters told the board the program expanded from 8 classical guitars to a larger inventory and doubled enrollment from about 20 to 40 students, crediting support from a community grant (Wednesday Music Club).

Kent Schwaters, director of the William Monroe Middle School guitar program, told the board the program has grown substantially in three years with equipment purchases and increased student interest. “We now maintain an inventory of 18 electric guitars, 5 bass guitars, updated classical guitars, and professional grade amplification,” Schwaters said, adding student enrollment has doubled to 40.
