STEM teacher Anne Feasley told the board her class emphasizes student-driven investigations that let learners take a project from question through hypothesis to results. She highlighted an in-house science fair and cross-disciplinary projects linking math and art (Fibonacci-based design), and said students are given autonomy to design experiments and prototypes.
A student presenter described using a program called GreenViz to simulate disease spread: “Using the program, we were able to simulate a pandemic…we were able to look at how exactly viruses move through airports,” the student said (student speaker 15). Board members responded positively to the hands-on work; the presentation emphasized experiential learning and skills in engineering, technology and scientific thinking.
