Coryell County moves ahead with courthouse master plan and THC grant timetable

"We're submitting an official draft to the THC on the 23rd," Alexis said, noting that an approved master plan is a prerequisite for the courthouse grant program and that a planning‑grant application would follow. She described a schedule that targets mid‑March for final master‑plan submission, late‑May for grant applications, THC award announcements in July, and the earliest realistic start of construction work in 2029 if planning and funding align.
The architects said planning documents typically take about a year to develop with THC reviews and that grant awards carry deadlines and reimbursement rules. Judge Miller emphasized that public outreach and budgeting will be needed once the plan is approved. "Once we have the plan approved by the state, we can put some media products together and maybe have a couple of initial town‑hall meetings," he said.
Next steps the court agreed to: review the historical section for accuracy, provide written comments on the drawings, and accept a thumb drive of the full package for wider circulation. The court did not take any formal votes at the workshop; the session was for instruction and direction only and concluded with adjournment.
