The Townsend Board of Health voted to approve a septic-system upgrade for 9 Bridal Path during its July 27 meeting. Health staff described a failing three‑trench leachfield; the plan retains an existing 1,500‑gallon tank (installed in 1998) and converts the existing 1,000‑gallon pump chamber to serve as a septic tank.
"They are not requesting any variances, so it is in both compliance with the upgrade by the regulations," said the health agent. The board received no substantive questions from members before a motion to approve was made by Charles Paul Serene and seconded; the board approved the motion on a roll call vote.
The permit record will reflect the approved design and the agent said work may proceed consistent with local health regulations. The board did not attach additional conditions or variances to the approval.
