Council flags errors in Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan; asks for local corrections

City Manager Nick Smith told the council the Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (NHMP) draft contains numerous errors and appears to have been assembled from other Wasco County city documents, and he asked council members to review and prepare corrections. "We are finding quite a few errors in this document and would like council to read through it," Smith said, and staff intend to return an edited version for council approval prior to submitting it into the Wasco County Plan.
Attorney Ruben Cleaveland cautioned that hazard-mitigation documents are not 'one size fits all' and should be tailored to local conditions. Recorder Christine Wolfe will coordinate the corrections with Councilors Kathy Peck and Randy Bechtol before the next meeting.
