Public Works staff (Hammer) updated the council that the fire department roof replacement will be covered by the city's insurance (CIAW) and bids have been requested from three companies. Crews are continuing replacement of water meters, removed four trees on Main Street, refreshed bark and placed CDA pots ready for planting after Memorial Day; Hammer said work on the water improvement plan continues.
Firefighter John Lautenslager reported a training burn on Green Hollow Road that involved about 30 volunteers; pump testing is scheduled for the week and the fire rating bureau will visit in September. On administrative matters, Amanda Link said the annual report is due May 30, the MPD and leasehold audits were completed, and Link and City Clerk Lynda Kramlich will attend fraud training in Dayton on May 28. Mayor Retzer reported the final candidate for the entry-level police officer position is moving forward to the psychological evaluation, the final hiring phase.
