The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted to approve the county—Y2027 nd—eyond Capital Improvements Plan, a multi-year planning document intended to guide future capital budgeting. Mr. Kretz told the board the plan is advisory and "is not a request for funding allocations or a county capital budget." The planning commission recommended the plan 7—or, 0 gainst with four absent, and staff incorporated the commission irection to add operating-cost impacts to each project overview.
Board members asked how the CIP—alendar ("'27, '28, '29, '30") affects prioritization; Kretz said the schedule helps the county anticipate expenses and that projects can be advanced or delayed if conditions change. After a brief public hearing with no speakers on the CIP, Supervisor Jesse made the motion to approve; Supervisor Crittendon seconded. The roll call produced four votes in favor and one opposed; the chair announced Item A was approved for the evening.
Why it matters: The CIP organizes planned capital work and helps county staff and supervisors prepare budget requests and evaluate grant opportunities. The newly added operating-cost notes aim to give supervisors better information about long-term fiscal impacts when projects are scored and prioritized.
