Front-yard pool at Whispering Pine Way approved; board notes impervious coverage concerns

Christopher Pangione told the board he proposes a 14-foot by 28-foot in-ground pool, a paver patio and a shed under 200 square feet; because his rear yard fronts Chamberlain Road the pool would be in what is functionally a front yard, so variances for lot coverage and front-yard pool construction were required. Pangione said he believes the improvements "are in line with the rest of the neighborhood," and noted an existing six-foot fence and vegetation between his property and Chamberlain Road.
Board and engineering staff recommended measures to address increased impervious coverage and stormwater management; Councilwoman Senatore voiced concerns about the lot’s impervious coverage. After discussion and professional review the board voted to approve the variances as presented.
