Saline County Board of Equalization finalizes valuation protests, approves corrections and adjustments

The Saline County Board of Equalization met July 14, reconvened July 16 and July 23, 2026, to hear property valuation protests and consider recommendations from County Assessor Brandi Kelly and Deputy Assessor Daryl Clark. Commissioner Russ Karpisek moved to accept the assessor's testimony that valuations "fall within the statutory range," a motion seconded by Commissioner Ray Rohrig that covered a large set of protests; the board recorded aye votes and the motion carried. The board recorded multiple subsequent motions granting value reductions, raising valuations and correcting a clerical error based on testimony, appraisals, inspections and sale evidence.
Several specific protest outcomes were recorded: the board corrected a clerical error for Protest #2026-17C; lowered values for protests including #2026-06 and #2026-35 following appraisal or sale evidence; lowered values for parcels cited for condition (#2026-01, 05, 13, 18C, 33, 41); lowered others to equalize with like properties (#2026-04, 08, 09, 24C, 26C, 29); and raised values after hearing new information for #2026-07 and #2026-37. Commissioners also accepted withdrawals for Protests #2026-10C–12C and approved a classification change for Protest #2026-32. All recorded motions were seconded and carried by the board; Commissioner Brian Pribyl was noted absent for some votes. The board recessed and adjourned following the July hearings and scheduled its next regular meeting for August 4, 2026 at 9:15 a.m.
