Staff presented an RFP to hire a consultant to update Bee Cave’s comprehensive plan; presenters said the current document is more than ten years old and needs refreshed public engagement, prioritization and an implementation/work plan.
The presenter explained the RFP will solicit a consultant team, use a selection committee, and include a combination of in-person and virtual town-hall style public engagement. Staff said the planning commission unanimously recommended the council approve the RFP. On council questions about public engagement and whether the plan would be pragmatic and account for financial, legal and implementation constraints, staff said the plan must balance aspirations with realistic constraints.
Council members expressed support for the implementation matrix/work plan as a tool to keep the plan current and actionable. The motion to authorize issuance of the RFP carried unanimously.
