Contractor raises landill contract cancellation; commissioners pause fee changes, schedule work session

Bob Cook, representing C Wave Co., told the Board his contract with the Butler County Landfill was cancelled and asked the County to review the circumstances. Administrator Will Johnson committed that the County would hold a work session within 120 days to review and update policies dealing with tires at the landfill.
Commissioner Dan Woydziak moved to continue current landfill fees for 120 days and to direct staff to arrange a future work session on new rates and policies; Commissioner Darren Jackson seconded. The motion carried 5-0. The five commissioners present were Chair Marc Murphy, Jeff Masterson, Kelly Herzet, Darren Jackson and Dan Woydziak.
No immediate change to landfill rates will occur while staff prepares policy options for the Board. The scheduled work session is intended to focus on landfill tire policies and any related rate adjustments.
Next steps: staff will coordinate scheduling for the work session and prepare proposed policy and rate options for Board review.
