Council authorizes task order for Penn Money Ditch CDBG mitigation project

The Clute City Council approved Resolution No. 17-2026 authorizing the city manager to execute a task order with CSRS for grant administration and engineering services on the Penn Money Ditch drainage mitigation project funded by CDBG mitigation funds.
Staff explained the approved scope is the inline detention portion of the project behind the apartment complex and cemetery, and said the city was awarded $1,226,000 by the Texas General Land Office (GLO) under the MDR/MOD distribution method. Staff noted the Penn Money project must dovetail with an existing hazard-mitigation (HAZMAT) project and that the HAZMAT work should proceed first to avoid creating downstream flooding; design and bid work for the Penn Money components are expected to follow later this summer. "We rewarded $1,226,000 by GLO under this method of distribution formula," staff said.
The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution; the action allows the city to proceed with grant administration and engineering work to ready the project for bidding and construction coordination.
