Sheriff's office construction progressing; county expects mid‑August milestone

Cody Sibley, the county's facilities management director, briefed the court on April 13 about the county's construction and renovation program. He said asbestos abatement has started at the 110 Building and interior demolition has begun in the medical examiner area. At the sheriff's office, footings and concrete forms are in place and crews expect concrete pours this week, with a mid‑August timeline for the bulk of work.

Sibley described site adjustments to accommodate vehicle processing at the sheriff's facility, including removal of two small roll‑up doors and installation of a 12x14 foot roll‑up door, new planters and a loading dock area to serve records management. He told the court that rain and soil/concrete testing have slowed exterior work but said the project remains on schedule overall. Commissioners thanked Sibley and asked follow‑up questions about additional phases and classroom expansions, which Sibley said are currently outside the scope of the contract but could be added later.
