FIFA officials brief commissioners as Houston finalizes World Cup preparations

FIFA officials and the Harris County Houston Sports Authority visited the Commissioners Court to brief the county on final preparations 56 days before the first matches. A FIFA official summarized the preparation work: "Houston is one of the best prepared because this is all about people ... it's about relationships, communication and making it work." County leaders said they will continue close coordination with public safety, emergency management and tourism partners. Commissioners also highlighted legacy programs that will remain after the tournament, including investment goals tied to youth access to soccer fields and worker protections. The court encouraged rapid coordination on security reimbursements and continuity plans for county operations during the event.
