The Planning and Zoning Commission approved comprehensive amendments to the City of Forney's zoning ordinance that create a new R1 single-family residential district requiring a minimum lot area of one acre for new rezonings and update related use charts and development standards. Staff said the change is intended to make R1 the preferred zoning for new single-family areas while allowing existing platted areas to continue under their current rules.
