Prosecutor urges space changes in courthouse reconfiguration plan

During review of courthouse office reassignment plans, the county's prosecuting attorney asked the board to add partitions and a dedicated victim waiting/meeting area to the RFP, citing privacy and operational needs for witness interviews and courtroom preparation. The prosecutor said the current proposed layout lacks a separate waiting space and would place victims closer to defendants.
"One of the biggest weaknesses of the prosecutor's office right now is that we have no place to meet with crime victims," the prosecuting attorney said, urging three to four additional interior walls and three doors to create private meeting areas and a victim advocate office. The prosecutor also described how existing furniture and storage needs factor into relocation and proposed alternative layouts that maintain a secure vault and private interview areas.
Board members asked staff to add the prosecutor's requested options to the RFP and to provide cost estimates so the board can prioritize items when formal bids are solicited. The prosecutor offered to submit written options for the bid packet to help staff and the board evaluate tradeoffs.
