Kendall County approves two conservation easements, authorizes per‑acre payments

Kendall County’s Commissioners’ Court approved the purchase of two conservation easements recommended by the county’s Proposition A Committee during its April 14 meeting. The properties are listed in the minutes as 225 FM 3351 South (88 acres; owner Patricia Hahne‑Moreau) and 7243 West State Highway 46 (48 acres; owner Gabe Thornton). The Court authorized paying up to $7,500 for conservation fees and $1,000 per acre for each property, and the motions were moved by Commissioner Richard Chapman and seconded by County Judge Shane Stolarczyk; both actions carried 5‑0.
A public hearing was held for each property; Maxie Zinsmeister is recorded as speaking in support or comment during the first hearing. One later motion to grant relief related to the Wynwood replat failed for lack of a second and no action was taken on that request. The minutes state the conservation purchases would use Proposition A funds.
