Planning staff told the commission that preliminary hearings will be handled differently going forward: they are non‑action informational items intended to notify commissioners about upcoming zoning changes and, in many cases, will be waived at the meeting if applicants request it.
Staff also reported and read into the record a notice error for a later application: an incorrect mailed notice required continuing that item to the Jan. 16 meeting. Staff said correction letters were sent to those originally notified and that no additional motion was required to continue the item; the commission accepted the continuance.
Separately, commissioners moved to continue approval of the Nov. 21, 2024 minutes to Jan. 16 after the draft minutes were not in the meeting packet. The chair and commissioners recorded voice votes to continue the minutes approval and proceeded to the scheduled public hearings.
