Board explores reusing Ruby Vista shelters for Grindstone communications; pad and electrical work set for spring

Staff outlined a concept to reuse two existing shelters from the Ruby Vista yard, tie them together, and install a protective ice‑tray over the connected structure to prevent ice shedding from nearby towers that could damage roofs or equipment. "The thought is that we use those 2 existing shelters. We tie them together, and then we put large ice tray over the top of the building to protect it from ice shedding," the operations speaker said.
The district will scope electrical conduit runs, pads and site work in the budget process and execute construction in spring once ground and weather conditions allow. The county offered equipment support—dump truck and loader—to clear the Ruby Vista yard and prepare for relocation and reuse of materials, and staff flagged that further engineering and budget numbers are required before committing funds.
