Senior‑service groups ask Kendall County for larger operating and transportation support

Representatives of the Comfort Golden Age Center and the county Meals on Wheels presented budgets and service metrics March 24 and asked the commissioners to increase county support. Joan Lovejoy, board president of the Golden Age Center, said the center’s operating budget rose from about $135,013 in 2025 to a projected $171,009.65 for 2026 after renovations and expanding activities and requested $30,000 to build program capacity.
Olivia, a Meals on Wheels board leader, told the court the group serves roughly 1,940 older adults countywide, delivered about 56,090 meals to 308 clients last year across 14 routes, and leveraged county support to access state and federal programs. She asked the county to increase its investment to $100,000 (matching Boerne’s recent increase) and asked the court to support local transportation solutions through the Alamo regional transit program. Commissioners asked for a budget breakdown and confirmed that additional county funding for Meals on Wheels would not change the state matching formula for the Texan Feeding Texans grant (that program is census‑based).
