John Keel, presenting the ARPA advisory committee’s final report, told the court that the committee had worked through the county’s allocations and that the county’s ARPA balance was effectively committed. “All of the county's money, all 22,000,700 some odd thousand dollars has either been spent or has been obligated,” Keel said, urging the court to approve this small project so it could be obligated before the Dec. 31 deadline. The motion to approve the DC security‑checkpoint network equipment was made, seconded and passed 5–0.
Keel reviewed the broader ARPA portfolio for the court, noting several construction projects and recurring maintenance costs that will extend into 2026. He highlighted that funds could be carried forward within buckets and that longer lead projects may continue into next year. County staff said the checkpoint equipment is intended to make courthouse entry more secure and reduce the need for deputies to travel to the control room during an event.
