Steve Burrows was appointed to the Elko Convention & Visitors Authority (ECVA) board during the Jan. 8 meeting after the ECVA recommended his appointment.
Burrows, a marketing and community relations director at Eastern Nevada Regional Hospital, told commissioners he has about 10 years of marketing experience and a history of community involvement. "I think they're doing amazing work to bring more tourism to the area... it would be an honor to serve on the ECVA board," Burrows said. ECVA representative Annette Kerr told the board that both candidates (Burrows and Casey Bennett) presented to the ECVA and that the board recommended Burrows given his prior service on the ECVA marketing committee.
A motion to appoint Burrows was moved, seconded, and approved by voice vote. Commissioners noted Bennett is a recent graduate who also presented but that the ECVA supported Burrows' appointment based on experience and prior committee service.
