The Hall County Planning Commission voted 4-0 on Oct. 6 to approve a variance allowing a detached garage at 3985 Mount Vernon Road that reduces the front yard setback from 30 feet to 7 feet and side yard setbacks from 10 feet to 4 feet. Katie Greenway, planning and zoning administrator, presented the staff summary; applicant Jeffrey C. Terry told the commission the garage location is constrained by "steep topography," which the applicant listed as the basis for hardship. No members of the public spoke in opposition.
Commissioner André Castleberry moved to approve the variance, and Frank Sosebee seconded. The approval carries the condition that the variance is limited to the proposed garage location described in the application; the vote was 4-0 (Davidson absent).
