Tioga County extends disaster declaration amid ongoing flood response

At the Sept. 10 meeting, the Tioga County Commissioners approved an amendment to extend the county’s Declaration of Disaster Emergency to Nov. 15, 2024 (motion by Shane Nickerson; second by Marc Rice; unanimous). The extension was presented as part of ongoing recovery and cleanup efforts following recent flooding.
Commissioners acknowledged support from state and federal officials and recognized local organizations and volunteers, including Develop Tioga and the Partnership for Community Health, for assisting flood victims. The board said it is coordinating with state departments on stream cleanup to reduce future flood risk.
