The Wise County Commissioners' Court unanimously voted to abandon and close County Road 1637 in Precinct No. 2 on April 27, 2026. County Judge J.D. Clark and Commissioner Kevin Burns said Burnco, a rock quarry, now owns land on both sides of the road and plans to expand mining operations, a development the court said presents a public-safety concern.
