The City of Ruston approved Resolution 806 on April 1 to update its Master Fee Resolution by adding a five-percent technology fee to all permit fees. The change is intended to cover costs associated with the city’s online permitting system; Mayor Bruce DRUP Hopkins described current challenges with the permitting platform and said the city is exploring a replacement system.
Councilmember Jensen asked how residents currently obtain permitting information and sought clarification on the fee’s application. Councilmember Hedrick moved to approve Resolution 806, Councilmember Syler seconded, and the resolution passed 4-0.
