Public comments praise Husky Humanitarian program; citizen suggests helmet program

During the public-comment portion of the Dec. 15 meeting, Meaghan O'Leary told the board the Husky Humanitarian program has been beneficial for students. Another community member, James Johnson, raised a public-safety concern and asked whether the district would be interested in participating in the Jump Start program to help purchase helmets for students. Secondary Principal Roger Franklin acknowledged the request and said he would take responsibility for following up on the possibility.
The board did not take formal action on either comment during the meeting; the record shows the public-comment time was limited to three minutes per speaker under the district’s public-participation rules. The staff follow-up assignment to Principal Franklin was the only procedural response recorded in the public session.
