City manager: housing application ranks second statewide; ribbon cutting set for June 1

In final public comment, Mark Cochran, interim city manager for the City of Monroe, updated the board on development activity related to the city‑county partnership. Cochran said a housing development application tied to a site the board supported was ranked second statewide and that he expects a high likelihood of funding. He also said the city council had accepted county support for the Saint Mary Academy development and that staff were preparing agreements so funds could be used quickly to move the project forward.
