Monroe County board reviews renderings for transformative museum expansion

County officials heard detailed renderings and a phased plan to add roughly 17,000 square feet to the existing Monroe County Museum, nearly doubling its size to about 38,000 square feet; community leaders and local employers publicly endorsed the project.

County commissioners heard a detailed presentation on May 6 about a planned expansion and renovation of the Monroe County Museum that project staff described as "transformational" for downtown Monroe. Administrator Bosonik opened the update, and Brian Egan, chairman of the museum board of trustees, traced the project to feasibility work completed in 2024 and a longer strategic planning process. "We're excited to provide a kind of a short presentation on the museum expansion project," Bosonik told commissioners during the introduction.
