Planning staff ran a short workshop and quiz on the county Comprehensive Plan at the Feb. 5, 2026 Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. Milton Ollerton, Planning and Zoning Administrator, led a review of when the plan should be updated and how commissioners should apply it when considering zoning and development requests.
Ollerton summarized the plan's components and walked commissioners through frequently asked questions about timing and applicability. Commissioners discussed how the Comprehensive Plan informs findings required for approvals such as PUDs, noting that some PUD-specific determinations require more detailed, engineering-level review at the final-plat stage.
