The Hanover County School Board adopted the Virginia School Boards Association code of conduct and approved Hanover County School Board protocols and guidelines by voice vote.
Ms. Hahn presented a set of policy revisions that included a reorganization of nondiscrimination content into a regulation for clarity. After a consolidated motion to approve a bundle of new and revised policies — covering employment nondiscrimination, harassment and retaliation prohibitions, suspension of staff, equal educational opportunities, and Section 504 nondiscrimination language — the board approved the measures with no recorded roll-call votes.
Ms. Hahn described the intent to “make them more clear, and easier to understand for both staff, students, and the public,” and asked the board to approve so the regulations could be placed into practice. The board moved on to budget matters and additional action items after approving the package.
