County OKs $76,000 engineering agreement, coordinates utility relocation with Warner Robins

Commissioners approved a $76,000 engineering agreement with Saunders Engineering for South Pleasant Hill Road improvements and signed an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Warner Robins to relocate underground utilities to reduce project delays.
Houston County commissioners voted unanimously Oct. 15 to enter into an engineering services agreement with Saunders Engineering Consultants, Inc. for the South Pleasant Hill Road project. Commissioner Byrd said the scope includes adding a sidewalk and required drainage to the east side of the road; the agreement amount is $76,000 and will be funded by 2018 SPLOST.
Commissioner Byrd also presented and the board approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Warner Robins for relocation of the city’s underground utilities in conjunction with the project. Per the agreement (approved by the Warner Robins City Council Oct. 7), the contractor will bill the city separately for its utility relocation work; Chairman Perdue said including utility relocation reduces conflicts that could lengthen the project timeline.
Both items passed unanimously and move the project forward in a reduced scope after earlier scaling due to utility relocation and rising construction costs.
