Commission agrees interim rule for parcels split between zoning districts

The Planning Commission discussed procedures for parcels that straddle two zoning districts and agreed by consensus to treat the district containing the major portion of a parcel as the controlling district until the town completes a remapping process following public outreach. Judy Pullinen proposed the majority-portion rule and several members, including Ted Stryhas and Erin Ladd, supported applying that rule as an interim solution.
Chair Terry Carter said the maps will be redrawn after additional public input and that any final remapping would take several months. The commission asked staff to record the interim policy in the Town Plan and to coordinate remapping timelines with MARC.
