Creighton Remus, representing Nex‑Tech Wireless, told the board the proposed tower is freestanding, has a defined fall zone and does not use guy wires. Remus said the tower will operate “on an entirely different frequency so there will be no issues” with 911 communications, and staff presented criteria and recommended conditions before the board voted.
Rothe, speaking for the planning office, reviewed the application and background information for the commissioners and raised a concern specifically about 911 interference; Remus provided the frequency explanation during that exchange. Commissioner Joni Embree‑Meinders moved to approve the permit with staff conditions; Greg Claassen seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Seven commissioners were recorded as present at the start of the meeting.
