County administration told the supervisors that a comprehensive review and revision of the Cumberland County Emergency Operations and Continuity of Operations Plan had been completed in compliance with Virginia Code §44-146.19 and submitted to the board for consideration.
"We've been able to work through the EOP and update the document as required by state code," the county administrator said, describing the plan as the county's guidebook for activating the emergency operations center, logistics, mitigation, financial support, and recovery operations. Staff advised that a tabletop exercise with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management would be appropriate to test the plan and recommended scheduling such an exercise in coordination with the sheriff's office.
A resolution adopting the updated EOP "in the form and attached effective immediately" was read into the record. Staff asked whether the board wished to adopt the resolution as presented and offered to coordinate follow-up training and exercises. The transcript records the presentation and the resolution's text being read; consult the official minutes for a formal roll-call vote or final adoption record if not separately recorded.
Next steps: staff recommended arranging a tabletop exercise with VDEM to test procedures; the EOP revisions remain available to the board and will be used during any future emergency activations.
