Residents urge more transparency as Springfield Elementary faces possible consolidation

John Sincich, also of District 1, said he purchased a home in the Springfield attendance area so his children could attend the school and criticized the school board's efficiency study, saying the county paid about $250,000 for the analysis. "As a 20 year veteran of the Commonwealth of Virginia... efficiency study only tells you what you want to hear," he said, arguing the study may not reflect on-the-ground realities and that consolidation plans felt premature.
Board members responded that the school board's study is at an early stage and urged patience while the full process plays out. One supervisor noted that enrollment in the county has dropped from "3,500 to 2,700," and said the board must consider capacity and efficiency as part of the study. Supervisors encouraged residents to continue to engage with the school board and county officials as the process continues.
