Commissioners approve several contracts, ARPA funding and authorizations

The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court approved a package of procurement and funding actions during its Nov. 12 meeting, moving several departmental projects forward.
The court voted to approve the Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department’s final request for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and authorized the auditor’s office to proceed with procurement steps to fund approved items. Purchasing staff reported that bids and responses for the Marion Building renovation (RFQ 24‑24) yielded a top ranked firm — Deborah Dockery Architects — and the court authorized purchasing to negotiate a contract with that firm.
Commissioner Engelke presented a contract with UES Professional Services 44 LLC for construction materials engineering and testing for the Guadalupe County Elections Office project; the court approved the core testing services while declining optional additive items. Road & Bridge described a new uniform contract from Unifirst to supply higher‑visibility, cooler materials for field crews; the court approved the Unifirst contract with no change to the previously approved budget. The approvals were moved and passed in separate votes; several commissioners noted that these items are part of routine construction and procurement practice.
