Board requires independent evaluator member, restricts AD from evaluating own program

Committee members said the athletic director should normally participate in evaluations but must recuse when there is a conflict such as coaching their own program or having a family member involved. "If the athletic director serves as a coach they shall not evaluate their own program," the Chair said.
In cases of conflict, the board agreed the principal or superintendent or an evaluation committee will conduct the evaluation to ensure fairness. Members emphasized adding an at-large community member to the evaluation panel to increase transparency and reduce bias.
The board asked the superintendent to develop the evaluation criteria and rubric, drawing on job descriptions and additional documentation; that rubric will likely be finalized as an administrative regulation tied to the policy.
