A councilor who spoke during the meeting said the city has been reactive on fleet management and urged a proactive strategy for replacing patrol vehicles going forward. The councilor said maintenance costs are "astronomical" when parts and different vehicle types are needed and noted that in a prior role it took two years to secure a single needed vehicle under similar windows.
