Corkins: consultants help large historic projects; shared infrastructure must align with application rules

John Curtis asked whether hiring a consultant improves chances of approval or simply eases the application burden; Corkins said it depends on project size. "I think if you're doing a large project and you are thinking about using the federal program as well as the state program, then, having a preservation consultant involved is helpful for sure," she said, adding that smaller projects generally do not require consultants because the state application is designed to be manageable.
