The Hancock County Area Plan Commission received an update on the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) project at its July 28 meeting and was told a draft version will be presented for review in August ahead of a public hearing.
A consultant summarized the project as a consolidation of the county zoning ordinance and subdivision-control ordinance into a combined UDO and said the team hopes to have a draft ready for the commission to review in August and introduce it at the commission's August 25 meeting for public hearing. "We're hoping to review a draft here in August and... introduce the document to the plan commission on August 25," the presenter said.
Commissioners were asked to review the draft during August to prepare for the public hearing; staff noted the document will appear in public meeting materials and follow the normal ordinance-change process if the commission forwards a recommendation to county commissioners. The update closed with no substantive objections and commissioners thanked the consulting team for clarity and transparency on deletions and edits in the draft.
