The Hardee County Planning & Zoning Board on Aug. 7 recommended approval of Planning & Zoning application 25‑60, a proposed amendment to the future land‑use map changing a 3.42‑acre parcel off US Highway 17 from agriculture to Rural Center (Royal Center) to accommodate anticipated neighborhood commercial use.
Jordan presented staff’s analysis and concluded the proposed modification is consistent with the county’s comp‑plan policy L1.7 and compatible with adjacent mixed uses, traffic and level‑of‑service standards; staff recommended forwarding the amendment to the Board of County Commissioners. Jordan also noted the rezoning approval is contingent on comp‑plan approval.
A board member moved to recommend approval of the amendment; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. The item will be scheduled on the county commission agenda for final action.
