Development Services staff told the Planning & Zoning Commission they are working to make meeting items more discoverable for residents. Staff said a planning‑site page will list upcoming P&Z items with concise summaries; on‑site maps will include a QR code linking directly to the staff synopsis and packet. Staff explained legal review is underway to ensure QR codes meet statutory public‑notice requirements and said the county is evaluating reusable sign designs to reduce costs.
"We have created under the planning site a link that takes you straight to the P and Z items… One of the things we are wanting to do is limit the sign. It'll basically have the county seal, it'll have a QR code, it'll have the URL on the bottom," said the county representative. Commissioners recommended testing and suggested simulcasting meetings to YouTube to address accessibility issues raised by residents who find the current streaming service difficult to use.
Staff said the effort aims to improve public access, reduce staff time and save sign costs while preserving required notice information. The commission asked staff to report back as the pilot proceeds.
