The Committee considered and approved two statutory cleanup requests designed to remove obsolete or unnecessary code language.
Chairman Lakey introduced RS 32894, explaining it repealed an outdated Idaho Code section related to the Capital Crimes Defense Fund that is no longer necessary because the State assumed responsibility for public defense. Senator Foreman moved to send RS 32894 to print and the motion carried by voice vote.
Lakey also presented RS 32896, which updates a time‑zone code reference in Section 20‑524A by removing the word "standard" from "mountain standard time," a cleanup described as removing an obsolete provision in juvenile corrections statutes. Senator Ruchti moved to send RS 32896 to print; Senator Foreman seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
Both requests were sent to print so they can be formally drafted and introduced as bills.
