Brooks County changes landfill hours to Tuesday–Saturday beginning Jan. 1
The Brooks County Commissioners' Court approved a change to landfill hours — Tuesday–Saturday, with Saturday closures when Monday is a holiday — effective Jan. 1, 2025. The motion was moved by Commissioner Martin “Marty” Cabrera and seconded by Commissioner Eduardo “Eddie” Garza.

The Brooks County Commissioners' Court voted to modify the hours of operation for the Brooks County Landfill, changing the schedule to Tuesday through Saturday with the caveat that when Monday is a holiday the landfill will be closed Saturday. Commissioner Martin "Marty" Cabrera moved the change, Commissioner Eduardo "Eddie" Garza seconded, and the motion passed unanimously; the court said the change would take effect Jan. 1.
