ACRPC planner briefs Weybridge on Vermont Act 181 changes

Danelle Birong, Community Planner with the Addison County Regional Planning Commission, presented to the Weybridge Planning Commission on Vermont Act 181 at its April 15 meeting. She said the law moves review from a project-based approach under Act 250 to a location-based approach aimed at facilitating growth and housing availability around already-developed centers. "The process for implementing Act 181 is still in the fine-tuning phase," Birong told commissioners and provided a packet of maps and supporting materials that she said are available at the Town Office.
Commissioners and Conservation Commission member Gioia Kuss raised concerns about inaccuracies on the draft Weybridge maps, particularly failure to show formally conserved lands and current-use parcels. Kuss said the Conservation Commission is preparing an updated conservation map and can provide a community-survey result to inform corrections. Chair Jeff Olson asked Birong to send a list of requested corrections and deadlines so Weybridge can submit revisions before the statewide Land Use Review Board reviews the maps.
