Public-health staff report grant updates, workplan development and training

Brad Knudson reported to the Board March 31 on Jones County Public Health activities. He provided updates on the Public Health Improvement Grant (PHIG) and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) grant, and said staff are working to develop mission, vision and values and a department workplan to guide operations.
Knudson said he attended a POD (point-of-dispensing) class important for coordinated emergency response planning and emphasized the need for a unified plan in the event of an emergency. He also reported that a new vending machine for Monticello has a tentative ship date of April 10 and that a county survey closes on the meeting day; he expects to attend the NACCHO conference for further training and networking.
