Decatur approves larger local match as runway rehab scope grows
After engineers recommended full-depth reclamation, the City Council voted to increase the airport project budget and raise the 10% local match from $380,000 to $630,000 so Decatur can proceed with a larger $6.3 million rehab of runway and taxiways.

City staff presented revised engineering and cost estimates for the airport runway and taxiway rehabilitation. Staff said the original plan (mill and overlay) would not be sufficient after field tests showed thin asphalt layers, and engineers recommended full-depth reclamation. The project overall cost rose from $3.8 million to $6.3 million; staff explained TxDOT identified additional funding and the city’s 10% local match correspondingly rises from $380,000 to $630,000 (an additional $250,000). Greg said TxDOT indicated matching funds would be available in spring 2027.
